In 1960, Tewkesbury joined the famous carpet centres of the East when Jack Jennings opened a specialist Oriental rug shop. Over forty years he helped establish friendship and close relationships with weavers and tribes-people who even now still help select the finest examples of their work for J W Jennings.
Today Clare Jennings continues the family business with frequent buying trips to the major carpet weaving countries, where the rugs are still made in exactly the same way as they have been for thousands of years. On her travels, she also searches for unusual artefacts and objects, from small wooden Indian elephants to intricate Persian copperware. |
