A kilim (from the Persian ‘gelim') is a flat-weave rug or carpet, usually made of wool and produced in all the main weaving countries of the East. Designs tend to be bold & geometric and colours are often bright & dramatic. Although there are many variations, their construction is essentially the same as for a rug with a pile, but without the knots, sometimes a plain flatweave, sometimes with intricate embroidered detail.
We also stock an ever-changing range of artefacts, from small wooden Indian elephants to intricate Persian copperware, objects which Clare has discovered on her travels and found irresistible! |
