Quite honestly, it is stunning. The beautiful hand-dyed wool uses Indigo vegetable dye as the main colouring, which is unusual because it does not require a mordant (for fixing the dye). It does, however, require a special vat process to create the colour. Other colours used will be yellow-orange, using pomegranate rind or Annatto seeds, to name just a few of the exotic plants that might be used.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eA decorative rug in wonderful autumnal colourings. This rug was handmade in northern Afghanistan using wool woven onto a cotton foundation. The pattern is not easy to find and is based on an antique Persian Serapi design.
