This is a wonderfully plush, soft example of a Bokhara rug in a soft blue/grey. The contrast of using pale creams, soft peaches and soft green. The design is a classic Bokhara design with a broad border with 20 smaller motifs. This rich Pakistan Bokhara rug is finely knotted in lovely soft silky wool. The well known Bokhara design originates from the ancient town in Uzbekistan where the nomadic Turkoman tribespeople first took their rugs to be sold. The repetitive octagonal motif or “gul” (Persian for rose) is a characteristic of Bokhara rugs and today the Pakistan people weave this design in a wide range of colours and sizes around the city of Lahore.
Pakistan Bokhara rugs are hand-woven using soft wool, sometimes imported from New Zealand onto a white cotton warp and weft. This gives the rug a property similar to silk in regards to the touch, but with a much longer pile. These rugs offer great value for money as the production is considered easier than other carpet manufacture processes.
A carpets' final stage in Pakistan may involve processes such as initial tensioning and alignment problems may be undertaken followed by surface clipping, herbal washing and finally tumbling. This tedious task ensures that the rug or runner becomes a great success.

It is worth being reminded that these handmade rugs are unique and special; owning one is something you can enjoy for many years. I would recommend buying a handmade rug produced using the best natural fibre, which is wool.
We recommend the use of an underlay with this product:
